Alright - photos! First the black desert:
We drove for a few hours outside of the oasis to these sites, stopping once to check out a hill basically. It was fairly impersonal, and until we got to the white desert I was pretty unimpressed, still a bit stung from the morning sadly. But once we arrived there, after some harrowing road time, it was all worth it. I felt comfortable finally, we basically were camping outside, which felt very familiar. And for some reason Terry and Jen both laughed at my jokes, which was fun - I was for one of the first times the more experienced world traveler, where I think I feel more comfortable than following and not being entirely sure of what to do next. And now the white desert. I suggest opening them up, they are pretty stunning if I do say so myself! Enjoy!

These were taken while the sun was going down - we arrived just in time! |

Facing the sunset, the rocks were silhouetted, away they were rich and colorful |

These are from the next morning - I woke up just before sunrise |

Facing the rising sun |

The landscape looked so different here than later, when the sun was fully up |
|
It was kind of chilly - maybe 45 degrees? |

Footprints of the desert fox! |

During the day the rock was white white white - chalk essentially |

This just after sunset, the moon also on its way down. |
So that's that! There were dozens more of course, many very strong, but these stood out to me. I'm ni Dahab at the moment, looking north to Jordan and Petra, and ultimately to Istanbul to see Corinne, who will be a welcome sight after all of this! Thanks for reading, or in this case, looking!
I am more amazed each day. My heart pounds, my mind expands, and my imagination is stretched with each new entry. Thanks for adding info on the traveling partners. Glad to hear you have some Ausie travelers and so glad that you are not alone as much.
